Care Harbor
Care Harbor provides free medical, dental and vision care to the uninsured, underinsured and underserved in our communities. For those who live without access to the care they need, Care Harbor’s clinic events are a destination for help and hope. Giving Design is proud to have supported Care Harbor’s Los Angeles Health Clinic in November 2019 by providing architectural support through AutoCAD drawings and updates.
Care Harbor, a nonprofit organized in 2009, sponsors the largest free clinics in the country by converting arenas and other large venues into working clinics treating thousands of people in the space of a few days. Its events may have 100 dental chairs, 20 vision lanes, 40 primary care and sub-specialty exam rooms, a women’s health section, dispensary, and many other resources, and offer everything from dental fillings, extractions and cleanings to eye exams and prescription glasses, from medical evaluations and procedures to immunizations and screenings. These community-based events draw on local resources and volunteers, including hospitals, medical and dental schools, professional associations, community clinic networks and local healthcare agencies.
At Care Harbor mega-clinic events, volunteer professionals, provider organizations and healthcare agencies come together to bring care to thousands of those in need. Those with nowhere to turn for healthcare receive free medical, dental and vision services, along with the prevention resources and follow-up care that can empower them to lead healthier lives.
